All about fashion sketching

Before ink hits the screen or scissors cuts fabric all of your designs should be well thought out. Many different versions of a prospective design can be rendered and reviewed before wasting any real materials.

Most Fashion lines use detailed sketches called "Cads" or "flats" for inital reviews and later use the refined drawings to help presell their line or give buyers a sneak peak of things to come.

As a designer you will be doing a lot of these mockups to ensure that the look you want is what you are getting. Try to develop your own style while still folliwng the design needs.

As Time goes on and you build your library you can recycle and reuse parts from one drawing to the next. The perfect ruffle or an excellently rendered button can be saved and then later coppied to your latest creation.
